  • MassBike's Fifth Annual Bike Festival - Our friends at MassBike are having a Bike Festival on Saturdav, August 25th in beautiful Concord, Mass. The festival includes rides from 6-62 miles, a one-of-a-kind Pie Race, and bike expo/BBQ. http://www.massbike.org/news/bikefestival.htm This MassBike festival would be a good warm up for the CCBA's own Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour on Saturday, September 8th. More info at: http://www.hartfordbiketour.org/.
  • Connecticut Bicycle Statutes - Its always good to know what the laws are regarding bicycles.  Start here for Connecticut.    Sections 14-286 through 14-289.  Your locality may have regulations of its own (ex. rules about riding on sidewalks).
  • National Biking & Walking Study -  US DOT 10-year status report on the 1994 goals to 1) double the percentage of walking / bicycling trips & 2) reduce pedestrian / cyclist injuries & fatalities by 10%.
  • Rail-Trails and Safe Communities - Required reading for bicycle and multi-use path advocates. A thorough study and collection of crime data with regard to multi-use paths.
  • Health Benefits of Bicycling - Recent studies overseas and in Australia continue to confirm the benefits, both economic and social, of increasing the number of bicycle trips that replace car trips.
  • Share the Road Brochure - Do your part by being a good ambassador to bicycling.   Inside this brochure is educational safety information for both drivers and bicyclists.
  • How Not to Get Hit by Cars - This is a far cry from normal bicycle safety guides, which usually tell you little more than to wear your helmet and to follow the law.
  • Bicycle Friendly Berkeley Coalition (BFBC) Safety Tips - You should wear a helmet, but there's more to it than that.  BFBC does a good job of covering safety basics.
