Safe Routes to School Nov 29
Opportunity: There is significant federal funding allocated to funding Safe Routes to School programs in the State of Connecticut. Make sure your cities and towns know about this funding and let them know that you feel that Safe Routes are important to you! Make sure this funding isn't wasted on more pavement for cars!
How the CCBA Can Help: We can point you in the direction of more information about Safe Routes programs - Safe Routes to School. The CCBA can also notify members about critical Town Council meetings so that the support for these programs is visible. CT Department of Transportation now has a full time Safe Routes coordinator - see the contact info below.
CCBA needs your Help too: CCBA needs a Safe Routes to School Champion, in addition to folks individually advocating to their cities and towns. If you feel strongly about Safe Routes and your child's health - contact the Advocacy Committee.
Bicycle Parking and Racks Nov 29
Opportunity: If you are trying to encourage your employer, a local business, or government entity to install bike racks. Here is a very useful link for your use or to help the other party plan bike racks - Comprehensive Bike Parking Guide
How the CCBA Can Help: Contact our Advocacy Committee if you need more info about bike parking or would like help convincing someone that bike parking is necessary and beneficial. Sandy Fry at CRCOG might also be able to help out.
